At this time I would like to extend our deepest appreciation to
Chet Halvorson at Wyoming Casing.
There are people in the community who talk the talk and actually
do nothing and then there are those who walk the walk by
making positive contributions in their community!
Thank you Chet!  We are working diligently to create new
technology that will benefit our children.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank all the parents, students
and school administrators for trying so hard this month as we
work to solve some of the bullying issues here in Laramie County School
District #1.  Admitting that there is a bullying problem is not always easy
but I think we have all taken a good step in the right direction to put a
stop to it.  We look forward to working with everyone in the future.
Please feel free to contact us if we can do anything for you!

As we work with the wonderful parents and children in our area - I have
noticed that there is a serious need for possible scholarships and sponsorships
for children who may benefit from extracurricular activities, such as dance,
gymnastics, art classes, etc.  We all know how difficult and expensive it
is to raise our children today and some of these parents are not able
to see their way through to provide these things -
but if you are in a position to help out some of
these children - please contact us so that we can make their world just a
little nicer to live in.  We thank you ahead of time and appreciate anything
you can do.  It has been my experience that whenever someone in the
community is in need....someone else always steps up to help.

Cheyenne you make me proud!
After the premature and tragic death of Alex Frye, our community realized we have some very serious
 issues going on in the school system as well as the entire community. Although it took a few weeks, it looks like the community is trying to get engaged in the solution process!
Tonight we held a very successful community meeting at the First Baptist Church
to allow the community to share their solution ideas.
I would like to thank First Lady Carol Mead for taking the time to join us and share her
own ideas and feelings about the bullying issues that are pressing upon our students.
I was also proud to see representatives from our city government, law enforcement, LCSD#1, many
educators and members of the local clergy who care enough to participate.
A special thanks to Lauren Bard (sister of Alex Frye) for coming to speak at the
meeting and for sharing her appreciation of what we are all trying to do.

Alex we have not forgotten and we continue our work
 in honor of you and all the children.....lost.

In loving memory of

Alexander "Alex" Frye
(Cheyenne, WY)

Alex Frye with his grandmother in happier times.

Alex loved his family, his dog and trains.  Alex was most comfortable
in the company of adults and often joined his dad at the American Legion
in Cheyenne WY where he had many friends.
According to these friends, Alex was a kind young man who did not
like to burden his mom or dad with his struggles at school over bullying.
Just a day before having to return to school after New Years, Alex decided
to end the pain and headed to one of his favorite places - the train station,
where he put an end to the extreme stress he could no longer face.

Alex you will be forever loved and missed!
We continue our work because your life meant something to all of us.

Vegas Seven (Bully Pulpits Article)

At first read I would like to thank writer Stacy Willis for a well written story. After you read it you might ask me why I would thank someone for a story that clearly attempts to insult me and the mission I am on to protect our children.  Sometimes my friends, you just have to recognize the fact that not everyone truly understands what you are doing. You have to smile, have patience and hope that down the road they will "get" exactly what you were trying to do.  Throughout the years Marvin and I have taken on this child-advocacy mission, we have crossed paths with people who - when they disagree with what we are trying to do - or that we are not doing it the way they are, they bring out the big guns of criticism or mockery to put us in an unsavory light.  They do diligence to discredit what we are doing. We have learned to accept that.  Keep in mind that we are experts in the bullying field and can recognize bullying in it's most truest form - not to mention the fact that we know we are not immune to bullying either.
My opinion? Let them talk, let them write, let them attempt to force their opinions on everyone.  Its okay. This is the wonderful country of America!  It is their right - just as it is our right, to stand by our beliefs.
We believe that ALL children have the right to a healthy, happy and bullying-free education. We also believe that NO child is better then another - that NO child's bullying issue should be treated as though it  is less important then another.  We focus our attentions on THE child and not THE agenda of which we think should not be forced upon others.  This is America and we all have the right to stand up for what we believe.
 This is just me - exercising my rights.
Once again I would like to thank Stacy Willis for a well written story, maybe next time she will have a better understanding of the true meaning of bullying.

BULLYING: It's Time For Parents To Step Up
Article written by Kelly Valen for the Huff Post Internet Newspaper
"Thanks to Lady Gaga, Anderson Cooper and all those in the trenches, the issue of bullying is again back on the radar."

I am both appalled and insulted by this headline! How can a statement like that be made when the issues of bullying have NOT left the radar in nearly 10 years! Is this writer implying that Lady Gaga and Anderson Cooper are "in the trenches?" Give me a break!! It is the teachers and many parents who are in, and have been in, the trenches from the beginning. Now, because a few famous names have jumped on the anti-bullying band wagon - are they trying to say that we will NOW take these bullying issues seriously? Get me some smelling salts because this one takes my breath away - and not in a good way!  Thank God for the unknowns and non-famous people who do not make a cent for the work they do in anti-bullying! Those are the REAL heros - those are the STARS. They work diligently day in and day out helping our children, knowing they will probably never get the kudos they deserve!  WAKE UP AMERICA! Ask yourself the REAL reasons these people are suddenly getting into the anti-bullying arena! It is a sad day for education when a professional writer/reporter uses the horrendous issues of bullying to praise the rich and famous and to sell a story.  Although this is an otherwise well written story - I fear that the writer does not believe we will take this bullying issue seriously if she does not include a famous name or two, when in reality - the average people - the true "trench dwellers" have never lost sight of the seriousness.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
October 8, 2011
I am stunned by the apathy that is happening in this country concerning our children and exactly what they are learning in their classrooms! Wake up America!  Remember this - if you do not take an interest in your child's education - the government will!  For that matter - in many parts of the country, the government already has!  Become active, vote, let your voice be heard.  Parents - we are not just a herd of cattle who follow blindly behind the one in front!  GET INVOLVED with your child's education!
DO IT while you still have the right to!
July 2nd., 2011
It is with sincere appreciation that we thank Mr. M.Lee and family of Cheyenne, WY
for hosting a Bullying Hurts fund raiser at his home. There is an old saying; that you never really know who your friends are until you are in need.  Due to the unfortunate outcome in association with the WDE and superintendents of department targeted school district town hall meetings around WY, Bullying Hurts has taken quite a financial hit. Mr. M.Lee stepped up to the plate and arranged a fund raiser to assist
Bullying Hurts as we take a breath and decide our next move. While Bullying Hurts is not out...we are just a little
surprised and dismayed at the position state leaders have taken in these forums for "freedom of speech" concerning bullying, their children, the citizens of their communities and their schools. It is even more distressing when you
throw in the fact that WY is 27th. in the nation in education and that 94 of our citizens die every year by suicide with the average age group for these suicides being 15 - 19 years of age.
On a personal note: Marvin and I did not get into this business to become
rich or famous. I promise you that there are easier ways to accomplish that!
We got into this business to help the children of this nation.  I say the following
with all due respect and conviction; State leaders, school superintendents and
community leaders; "We are not going away! As long as there is a child in
this state that needs a voice - for whatever reason - we will be here to help
them."  As our leaders, we would like to help you
learn to put aside
your own personal beliefs and accept the fact that every community has it's
 issues and your job is not to judge but to deal with and create solutions (in a swift
and effective manner) so that your students can receive a safe, healthy and pleasant
atmosphere to receive their educations.  When you were voted into the position you
are now in, you made a lot of promises to this state.  We voted for you
because you said you were truly concerned about our kids.  Your job is not
a difficult one if you will allow those of us who understand the issues to
d
o the job we came to do.  Turning a blind eye or hiding behind policies that
are clearly not working, will not help the kids.  State leaders...please do what is right!
 Finally -
a huge heartfelt thank you to M.Lee, his family and the members of
the Cheyenne, WY Tea Party.  Dave Chaffin, John Frenthaway and Gary Freeman of KGAB Radio and to all the caring members of this great community who confirmed our
belief that we are doing the right thing by putting our kids first
.
March 2011
It is a sad state of affairs when a school district will use their power and position to squelch the voices of it's concerned citizens!  Shame on all of you.
I have to wonder if this would have happened had it been election time.
March 2011
Fighting isn't the right response to bullying - for adults. Adults have to find out what makes the bully the way he/she is and look for reasons, answers and understanding.
That's an adult's responsibility.
Parents - a school administration's job is to teach our children - not to raise them.  As parents, we must take our roles seriously and do what is important for our children at home.  Parents and school administrators who each do their own part, can and will guarantee a healthy, happy and successful experience for our children.
Thank you Newcastle, WY for the great welcome!  We found your school administration and city officials, that sat on the panel, to be concerned and refreshingly pro-active in the issues of bullying with your school students and citizens.  It is our opinion that your anti-bullying practices would be a great role model for other districts in America!!
A child...is a child...is a child!
Recently I was asked my opinion on the Gay/Lesbian Rights issue as it is connected to children and bullying. This was not the first time I have been asked this question and in fact a number of years ago I was approached by someone from the Gay/Lesbian Rights Coalition who asked me why I did not take up the agenda of children who are being bullied for coming forward with their sexual orientation.  Here was my answer to that lady, as I felt at that time and as I feel today.
A child...is a child...is a child!
I find it horrifying and despicable that anyone would bully a child because of their gender or sexual orientation!  Worst yet, it is unbelievable that there would be such bigotry in the home that children are hurting other children because of what they are learning in the home.   Having said that, I must also share further feelings on this issue.  I believe with my whole heart and soul that all children have a right to a safe and healthy education!  No child...not black, not white, not fat, not skinny, not poor, not rich, not Methodist, not Catholic, not atheist, not gay, not straight, not special needs.....NO child should ever be bullied for what or who they are!  The only pre-requisite for me to take up this anti-bullying effort is that you ARE A CHILD. If I focus all my energies on just one...then there will be so many that are left out.  No child is more important than another child. I get very little sleep over this whole bullying nightmare as it is...I can't imagine how I would feel if I left a child out.
So for those of you who were wondering exactly where I stand on these issues.
Here it is. Loud and clear.
"I do not like bullying of any kind. It has to stop."
 We sadly announce the death of a friend and mentor, to many.  "Howard Harris III passed away on November 18th.  Mr. Harris truly lived the adage "For those who have much...much is expected."  There are a great number of people today who were befriended and mentored by Mr. Harris and at the very least, owe their good work ethics to this man.  Whether you are a fan of rodeo or not....this man's life was an amazing journey.  He leaves behind a legacy of success, love and cherished memories for many.
